Where can I obtain building permits information and inspection records for property within the City?

How can I obtain a copy of a birth, marriage, divorce or death certificate?

These records can be purchased at the Florida Department of Health website. Actual divorce judgements can be obtained from the Clerk of the Court in the County where the dissolution was granted.

How do I know if there is a fee for my records request?

Most records are provided free of charge. However, requesters will be notified in advance of any charges. The City of Oviedo may make reasonable charges not to exceed its actual cost incurred in accessing, duplicating, supplying, or searching for the requested records. You may refer to the City of Oviedo Fee Schedule.

How do I pay for an invoice online?

If your request requires payment, an invoice will be sent via email or embedded in a response if you are an anonymous requester. You can click on the link and follow the instructions to pay. Please make sure that you fill out the correct reference number and your payment amount.

Please note that online payments are subject to additional fees ($0.30 + 2.9% of invoice total) by our payment processor.

How can I get the documents I requested?

Most documents are available electronically and can be provided through this website by creating an online account and submitting an electronic records request. Records can also be provided via thumb drive (for an additional fee), or you can schedule an appointment with the appropriate department to go and view the files.

Can I remain anonymous?

When making a request, you will not be required to give your name or provide the reason for a request as a condition of fulfilling the request. Under Florida law, email addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address released in response to a public records request, do not send your request electronically but make your request via phone at 407-971-5504. Requests can be anonymous, however, please submit a form of contact information to provide you with the responsive data. If clarification is needed in regards to your request, in order to respond and there was no contact information provided, your request may be closed without a response.

May I request to inspect a record rather than get a copy?

A requestor may ask to inspect City records. The City will notify the requestor once the records are available for inspection and make them available at a date and time mutually agreed upon by the requestor and the City. The appointment to inspect the record may need to be broken into intervals so as not to interfere with daily operations of a department.

How do I request a lien search?

You can request a lien search for properties in the City of Oviedo by using the online request form, there is a $75.00 fee for the search.

Can I do a background check?

A local background check is $10 and is completed on the person requesting the background check only. You must be a resident of Oviedo and have been a resident for at least a year. We also are not authorized to conduct a background check for immigration purposes.
